Schools Or Colleges With Academic Basketry Or Fiber Programs
Schools and colleges that offer basketry and fiber instruction in the form of Artists-in-residence, undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

Ancient Arts Center
Offers a textile arts program in Alsea, OR that allows students to come to Oregon to focus on basketry and weaving from around the world with an emphasis on Western Native American basketry. Workshops frequently taught by Dr. Margaret Mathewson.

Appalachian Center for Crafts
Smithville, TN. A division of Tennessee Technological University. Artists-in-residence teach degree programs, seminars and workshops in fibers.

Artisan Center at Maple Creek
Moscow, OH. This location near Cincinnati, Ohio offers traditional artists with a permanent location to display, promote and demonstrate their crafts. Students can learn the techniques needed to create traditional handcrafted work such as basketry, brooms, pottery, blacksmithing and woodworking.

Brookfield
Offers one of the most varied hands on workshop curriculums in the nation. Workshops are offered in a variety of basketry media in Brookfield, CT.

North House Folk School
Created to promote and preserve knowledge, skills and crafts of the past and present. Located on Lake Superior in Grand Marais, Minnesota at the foot of the Gunflint Trail. Birch bark, black ash, willow, pine needle, cattail, cedar bark, dogwood and other naturals basketweaving and seatweaving topics are among the classes offered. Oxford Summer School
Located in central Oxford in the UK, this school regularly offers basketry workshops by such notable tutors as Mary Butcher and Polly Pollock.

Ozark Folk Center
Located in Mountain View, Arkansas, this school features instruction in crafts and American folk arts. You will find programs in many  including white oak woodsplint and coiled pine needle basketry, hickory bark chair seats and woodworking workshops on topics such as building your own shave horse.

Peninsula Art School of Door County (Wisconsin)
Fish Creek, WI. Provides opportunities for expression and exploration in three dimensions in various 3 dimensional media.

Penland School of Crafts (USA-North Carolina)
Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of NC, Penland School attracts people who come seeking instruction in ten craft media.

Peters Valley Craft Center
Layton, NJ. An art education center that is devoted to the teaching of craft as an art form. 

Porcupine Mountains Folk School
The School is run by the Friends of the Porkies in cooperation with the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park in Ontonagon, MI. Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park is located on the southern shore of Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Sagamore
One of the Great Camps of the Adirondacks. Bill Smith demonstrates rustic furniture and ash pack basket making. Sagamore programs include room, board and tuition. You will stay in historic buildings overlooking Sagamore Lake.

Snow Farm
Snow Farm: The New England Craft Program is located in Williamsburg, Western Massachusetts.
