Florida Craftsmen Conference 2000

michaeldavis.jpg (11833 bytes)
Participants interested in fiber, mixed media, basketry, sculpture and metalsmithing will gather for the 2000 Florida Craftsmen Conference in St. Petersburg, Florida from Thursday, March 9, 2000 through Sunday March, 12, 2000. The conference is titled Inventions and Constructions: Concepts and Materials.

The conference will focus on the exploration of contemporary, nontraditional basketry as object-making. This is an opportunity to interact with internationally-recognized artists in the field of contemporary craft and increase the awareness, appreciation and understanding of fine craft art. The symposium will offer a series of hands-on workshops, demonstrations, discussions and slide lectures. It is open to professional and emerging artists, collectors and the general public.

The Florida Craftsmen Conference has been organized to coincide with two exhibitions. Inventions and Constructions: New Baskets being held at the Florida Craftsmen Gallery and the 47th Florida Craftsmen Statewide Exhibition.
