Black Ash Basketry Tools

Black Ash baskets, often referred to as Brown Ash splint baskets are made using a variety of specialized tools including crooked knives, splint gauges and basket molds. 

Mi'kmaq Splint Gauge
This hand held wooden tool from the Canadian Museum of Civilization has metal blades imbedded into the end of the tool that are spaced evenly to cut equal sized widths of ash woodsplint.
