Black Ash Baskets

Baskets made by American and Canadian artisans from the hand pounded woodsplint of the Black Ash tree Fraxinus nigra sometimes referred to as Brown Ash. This tree is a ring porous wood that can be pounded to produce individual growth rings for splint to be used in basketmaking. Don't be fooled by imported baskets woven in China and other foreign countries if you want the real thing.
