Opportunities for teachers to submit proposals for convention classes and other workshops in basketweaving and fiber arts topics. You will find information on individual opportunities to teach basketry along with listings for recurrent events that have historically planned fiber and basketmaking events. Organizations such as craft schools and event planners that routinely are seeking submissions from program and workshop leaders are also included on this page.

Gibsons Landing Fibre Arts Festival - Call for Instructors
Annual festival seeking instructors with proven teaching skills as well as expertise in fibre arts techniques. Workshops may range from one to three days long. Workshops requiring four days should be proposed as two 2-day workshops. They also host a juried exhibition and sale during the festival.

The Conference of Northern California Handweavers (CNCH)
Hosts an annual conference. In even numbered years, a full conference is hosted, featuring seminars, workshops, exhibits, shows, and a marketplace. In odd numbered years, an alternative retreat-style conference is hosted, featuring workshops. Check their website for teaching proposals details.

NCBA Convention
Annual North Carolina Basketmakers Association Convention. Teachers proposal form is made available on the NCBA website. Proposals usually received in May.

Mendocino Art Center  - Mendocino, CA
An educational, exhibition and resource center for the visual and performing arts located 150 miles north of San Francisco in the quiet coastal village of Mendocino, California. Teaching opportunities are available in addition to the chance to learn basketweaving or other fiber arts.

Columbia Basin Basketry Guild - Tidal Twinings Retreat
This five day annual fall retreat with a strong emphasis on native naturals basketry is planned in Oregon. Check their website for details.

Opportunities at Society for Contemporary Craft - Pittsburg, PA
Artist instructors interested in sharing their enthusiasm and expertise with students in the studios at Society for Contemporary Craft in Pittsburg, PA should visit this page for details.

Westchester Area Basketry Guild Call for Basketmaking Workshop Leaders
Contact their workshop coordinator if you are interested in submitting a teacher proposal for their periodic workshops and basketry programs.

Greater Vancouver Weavers' and Spinners' Guild
Invites local fiberarts teachers to register in their directory. Workshops should be on a theme related to spinning, weaving, dyeing, fiber or basketry. They also host periodic conferences.

Mid-West Weavers Conference
Midwest Weaver's Association Conference is hosted annually.

Florida Tropical Weaver's Guild Conferences
The guild welcomes applications from teachers and vendors for their annual conference.

Guilford Art Center
Call to basketry faculty and crafts workshop leaders. Teaching positions are available for semester long classes and weekend workshops in curriculum including basketmaking that complements the programs at the Center.

The Craft Center (University of Oregon)
This crafts center located on the campus of the University of Oregon in Eugene, OR is always interested in new workshop ideas and often has openings for basic classes. An online instructor application is available.

Stateline Friends Weaving Retreat

Northeast Basketmakers Gathering
The Northeast Basketmakers Guild holds a basketry event annually. The NBG accepts proposals from teachers for 4, 6, 8 and 12 hour classes. Classes are scheduled to begin Friday afternoon and end Sunday noon. Visit the guild web site for details about submitting proposals for their events.

North Carolina Basketmaker's Association Events
This active association plans several instructional basketry events each year. Visit their website often to find details about call to entry for basket exhibit and basketweaving teaching opportunities.

Porcupine Mountains Folk School - Call for Instructors
The School is run by the Friends of the Porkies in cooperation with the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park in Ontonagon, MI. Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park is located on the southern shore of Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. They sponsor workshops in tune with their natural materials, wilderness and primitive skills approach. An Artist-in-residence program is also available.

Tennessee Basket Association Convention
Teaching proposals are sought by the Tennessee Basketry Association for their periodic conventions. Visit their website often to find details about call to entry for basket exhibit and basketweaving teaching opportunities.

Association of Michigan Basketmakers (AMB) Annual Convention
The Association of Michigan Basketmakers holds an annual convention and a Spring Event. Proposals for basketry classes are solicited for a variety of basketweaving workshops, lectures and other programs. Marketplace, vending applications and teaching proposals will be solicited.

Association of Northwest Weavers' Guilds Conference
The Association of Northwest Weavers' Guilds hosts periodic conferences and other events. Watch their events listings for calls for leader proposals for three-day, two-day and one-day pre-conference workshops, as well as 2 hour conference seminars.

Association of Southern California Handweavers
The association has evolved over the years to include, not only handweavers, but many other fiber artists including spinners, basket makers, lace makers, felt makers, and dyers. It is routine for them to seek teaching proposals from instructors qualified to teach workshops in fiber art topics.

Call to Arts and Crafts Instructors
Information on how to submit a workshop class proposal for Fletcher Farm School for the Arts and Crafts in Ludlow, Vermont.

CNCH Annual Conference 
The Conference of Northern California Handweavers, Inc. seeks instructor proposals for fiber workshops each year for their conference and retreats.

Convergence - Class Teacher Proposals
Handweavers Guild of America accepts leader applications for half-day, one-day, two-day, and three-day pre-conference workshops for each of their conferences.

Kentucky Basket Association 
Solicits basket weaving teaching proposals for various classes, workshops and other annual or special events.

Gibsons Landing Fibre Arts Festival
Annual festival in British Columbia, Canada seeks instructors of basketry or fiber workshops each year from two hours to four days long for their event. Multi-dimensional event that includes workshops and seminars, exhibits, juried sale, studio tours and demonstrations.

Lake Country Basket Guild - Basket Fest
Check the guild's website for information on class proposals for their periodic events.

Society of Ethnobiology Conference Proposals
Abstracts and demonstration proposals about the study of the relationships of plants and animals with human cultures worldwide are accepted for the annual society conference.

Teach Basketry on a Cruise Ship
Cruise lines are looking for short term arts and crafts instructors. These are unpaid positions offered to qualified personnel in exchange for the cruise vacation.

Teaching Opportunities at the Mendocino Art Center
Proposals are being accepted for teaching opportunities at this California art center.

Workshop Leaders Registry - Association of Northwest Weavers' Guilds (ANWG)
Basketry and other fiber arts instructors from the Pacific Northwest are invited to submit their names to this list of local and/or regional speakers and workshop leaders.

Winter Weave
Proposals are accepted from instructors for basketry workshops for the Wildwood Basketry Guild's Winter Weave scheduled to be held in Ohio.

2009 Northeast Basketmakers Gathering - Call for Teaching Proposals
The Northeast Basketmakers Guild will be holding its sixth basketry event, “Northeast Basketmakers Gathering 2009”, April 17-19, 2009 at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center in West Springfield, Massachusetts. Basketmaking workshop proposals are being sought from basketry instructors. Baskets and proposals must be received between August 25 and September 5, 2008. See the prospectus for full details.

2008 Weaving Odyssey - Central Pennsylvania Basket Weavers’ Guild
Call for teaching proposals for a three day conference to be held September 19, 20, 21, 2008 in Chambersburg, PA.

Call for HGA Convergence 2008 Leaders
Handweaver's Guild of America's Convergence 2008 will be held June 22 through June 28, 2008, in Tampa Bay, Florida. It will be hosted by the Florida Tropical Weavers Guild (FTWG). They invite leaders to send proposals for three-day workshops, one-day studio classes and two-hour seminars for basketry and other fiber programs. Proposals are due September 30, 2006.

Call for Basketry Workshop Proposals - North Carolina Basketmakers
Workshop proposals are being sought for North Carolina Basketmakers Association Convention 2009. “Baskets, Naturally!”. The 2009 NCBA Convention will be held in Raleigh NC, March 19 - 22, 2009.
