Help With RSS Feeds on This Site

You will see image such as or in various places around and about BasketMakers.com. This page will help explain what they are and how to make use of the information made available through content feeds.

What is a feed?
A "feed" is a summary of Web content that is updated on a regular basis. It is a way for users to keep informed of a Web site's latest changes. The feed format used is Really Simple Syndication (RSS) 2.0.

Feeds help make content more accessible, and they allow you to easily see new or dynamically changing content. A summary or "headline" view or thumbnail image lets you quickly scan recent content changes, and headlines are linked to their appropriate content.

What is a RSS reader or aggregator?
A news feed reader, also known as a "news aggregator", is software that lets you subscribe to RSS feeds.

Why should I use a news feed reader?
Using an RSS feed reader allows you to be alerted when new articles on the topics you're interested in are available. Many feed readers are integrated into mail clients or web browsers. When you are alerted of the new article, you can click on a link that will take you directly to the article.

Where can I get an RSS feed reader?
There are many freeware and shareware readers, use this link to run a web search for a reader.

How do I subscribe to a feed?
Before you subscribe to a feed, you'll need an RSS reader or aggregator to view content in RSS. Several free and commercial RSS readers are available on the Internet. To subscribe to content once you have an RSS reader, simply right-click on an RSS link, select "copy shortcut" to copy the URL, and paste it into your reader. Follow the instructions provided for that reader to display the content in RSS. In some instances I will use coding that will allow you to "add to any" feed reader with a few quick clicks.

About the feeds on BasketMakers.com
I provide feeds for updates to articles on the site as well as feeds that satisfy certain searches of auction sites. Once you have subscribed to a feed, you will receive automatic updates any time a new listing appears in this query right in your own news aggregator so you can track what's new or the latest basketry related auction.

Just a reminder
Check back with BasketMakers.com periodically for updates to feeds because search parameters may be updated or criteria changed to achieve improved results. Refreshing your feed subscription now and again will provide you with the latest version as technology (and my understanding of it) changes.
